How long have you been in business?
18+ years in Cedar Rapids. We relocated after the flood to the Clarion Hotel on 33rd Ave.
What is your primary product or service?
Providing comedy to eastern Iowa.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have been employeed with Penguins Comedy Club for 9 years. I started out as a bartender then started hosting shows 2 months into my employment. I was a part time road comic for about 2 years. After the relocation from the flood I found that a great opportunity was in front of me so I desided to apply for manager.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are 1 of a kind. Other comedy clubs in eastern Iowa are located in Des Moines and the Quad Cities.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have 2 Penguins Comedy Clubs. One in Cedar Rapids and one in the Quad Cities.

33rd Ave exit off of I380. Head west until you see the Clarion Hotel sign to your left. We are located on the north side of the Clarion Hotel.

Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Clarion Hotel is owner of Cedar Rapids Penguins Comedy Club. It is leased out from Jeff Johnson, owner to the Penguins Comedy Club name. Managed by Danny Franks.
What are your hours of operation?
Show times are Friday 8:00 and Saturday 7:30 and 10:00. Last Thursday of every month is Open Mic night. Admission is free for open mic to provide a great audience to our local comics trying to get there start in comedy.
